Club Trials PDF Print E-mail
What you need to know about club trials
When are they?
Every Saturday morning 8.30am at Hereford Leisure Pool
Do I need to contact anyone?
Please book in with the club desk which is at the Leisure pool between 5 - 7pm Friday, 8 - 9am Saturday.
What happens in the trial?
This partly depends on the ability of the swimmer. Most swimmers will be asked to swim a length of each stroke and execute a dive in the deep end of the pool. More able swimmers may have to undertake part of a test set - see the section on squads.
Will my child automatically get a place in the club?
Please note that not all trials are accepted. Firstly the club has sets of criteria which determine which squads a swimmer is capable of swimming with - so incoming swimmers need to meet these criteria. Secondly, due to the club's recent success there can be a waiting list for some squads.
When do I find out if my child has been successful?
You will usually be told straight after the trial whether your child meets the appropriate standard and which squad is most appropriate for them. In some cases (with competative swimmers coming from other clubs) you may be requested to attend a seperate, longer trial in a training session - it is helpful if you can provide your child's current personal best times and extracts from their recent log book before attending a trial.
You will also be told if you are likely to be on a waiting list for the selected squad.

Your current web browser must be updated to version 7 of Internet Explorer (IE7) to take advantage of all of template's capabilities.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
