The City of Hereford Swimming Club's Fish 1 squad is where young swimmers begin to build an aerobic training base alongside learning all the basic technical skills associated with each stroke. The emphasis is on stroke development, however, turns and starts play a significant part of the Fish 1 training programme. It is expected that swimmers are capable of maintaining a significant training pace over two lengths of the pool (50m) at this level. The squad's programme is predominantly dictated by the needs of the swimmers - and sessions may be adapted to address issues that are observed by the coaches during the set. The sessions are all water based. Swimmers within the squad are expected to meet a number of criteria which will assist in achieving these aims and ensure that training sessions can be delivered effectively. Swimmers are also expected to come properly equiped for each training session. Squad training times
